Establish a Scholarship Fund

The Hood River County Education Foundation is pleased to offer scholarships to benefit Hood River Valley High School graduating seniors and continuing college students.

There are three scholarship options available. Factors such as individual goals and amount you wish to donate will determine the scholarship type that is the best fit.

Legacy Scholarships

Legacy Scholarships are intended to support one or more student scholarships each year for 10 (or more) years. A minimum gift of $12,500 will be invested with the Education Foundation and earn investment income.  Each year the Foundation will award one or more scholarships with a minimum of $1,000 each from the earnings (and principal if desired) of your named scholarship fund. Your gift may be made all at once, or as a minimum pledge of $2,500/year for 5 years.  Scholarship payouts will commence the year following the final pledge payment. (HRCEF fee is 1% of the balance of the fund/year)

Annual (Renewable) Scholarships

A minimum gift of $5000 will support at least one scholarship of $1,000 (or more) for 5 years.  You may choose to make your donation all at once, or you may make the initial minimum donation of $1,000 with the commitment of continuing to give at least $1,000/year for an additional 4 years. (HRCEF fee is $100/scholarship recipient/year)

Sponsor a Scholarship

If you would like to make a scholarship gift of $1000-$5,000, we offer the option of sponsoring an HRCEF Board of Directors Scholarship.  These scholarships are awarded to students who are not receiving any other HRCEF scholarships, but have financial need and are motivated to obtain a college degree.  The recipient will be chosen by HRCEF and the donor will be acknowledged as a named sponsor of the scholarship. Gifts over $1000 can be awarded over multiple years. (There is no fee for this type of scholarship)

Establishing a new scholarship is easy!  Once you decide which type of scholarship is the best fit, simply contact the Scholarship Program Coordinator at ed.foundation@hoodriver.k12.or.us or 541-387-5713 to establish the selection criteria and other details for your scholarship.
