Our Scholars & Donors
You are helping me fund my life dream of giving back to the community who raised me!
Our family wanted to create a scholarship that recognizes community service and volunteerism, but we didn’t know where to start. Thanks to the Education Foundation, we’re now supporting amazing students every year as they strive to improve the world around them.
Both Rod and Mary Anne were recipients of college scholarships which allowed them lengthy careers in seminary education. "Establishing a scholarship fund is one way we can provide that same boost to current students".
Program Highlights
Air Quality Monitoring Grant
"Air, like food, water, and shelter, is critical for survival, and yet we rarely think about it due to its "invisible" nature. Additionally, unlike the other essential items mentioned above, we can't really "pick and choose" which air we breathe. It impacts us all. As such, studying air quality is a fantastic lens through which we can engage students in not only learning about the air, but also chemistry, earth and space science, and how we can be engaged citizens."
Family Literacy Night
Literacy Night is a new program that helps students build reading skills by working with parents to support reading at home. The pilot implementation of this program resulted in all participating students reading at or above grade level. In 2025, the Opportunity Fund provided funding to enable the district to launch Literacy Night at all elementary schools.
Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler Field Trip
The Field Trip Grant provided us with the opportunity to extend our learning from the classroom to the Columbia River. Taking a ride on the Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler was an ideal educational adventure for our 8th grade learners and staff. This experience allowed our students the opportunity to connect their learning targets directly to the native history of our region.
