The Janet C. Thompson Memorial Scholarship honors the legacy of Janet Carolyn Thompson, a lifelong educator who taught in Pennsylvania, California, Idaho and Oregon. She was primarily a physical education teacher, but also a drug and alcohol counselor and coach. In Hood River, she was a regular substitute teacher at Hood River Valley High School, Wy’east and Hood River middle schools, and Parkdale Elementary.
The scholarship is for one student for $250.
CRITERIA
- Applicant must have graduated from HRVHS
- Cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher
- Must be majoring in music. Preference given to vocal performance majors

Students will be scored according to the % shown:
- Letter of recommendation (50%)
- Personal Statement (30%)
- Financial need (20%)
