Athletic Scholarships
The Hood River County School District offers a robust athletics program for students at Wy’East and Hood River Middle Schools, options to participate in fall, winter, and spring sports.
Studies show that participation in athletics provides physical, cognitive and emotional benefits for children while also teaching important soft skills like teamwork. Students who participate in middle school sports are also more likely to be academically present and engaged.
HRCEF provides grants to Wy’East and Hood River Middle School to help families cover participation fees and other athletics program costs, so that every student has the opportunity to run, shoot hoops, and be active.

Music Program & Instrument Fees Waivers

Keyboard, guitar, trombone and more! Students at Hood River and Wy’East Middle Schools have the opportunity to choose from – and learn – a variety of musical instruments. Budding musicians can even join the Pep Band, where they have the opportunity to play at school and community events.
Learning instruments and music theory helps students explore their creativity and develop skills like fine motor control, working memory recall, and even math.
Because renting an instrument can be expensive, HRCEF provides need-based fee waivers for families — allowing every middle school student the opportunity to make music.
